NEWS ROUNDUP: Bathroom bill update 🚻 and push to keep abortion pill out of Costco

(Idaho Family Policy Center) Last week, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit heard oral arguments on our school bathroom law (Senate Bill 1100), which was drafted and championed by Idaho Family Policy Center.

Peter Renn, the attorney who argued the case on behalf of the LGBT advocacy group Lambda Legal, made several attempts to discredit the law.

Stretching credulity, Renn claimed that Congress never intended for schools to separate bathrooms and locker rooms on the basis of biological sex when it passed Title IX in 1972, despite the law expressly allowing schools to maintain separate living facilities on the basis of biological sex. That set off a fun back and forth between the attorney and two of the judges, which is worth watching.

On the other side of the case, Erin Hawley, an Alliance Defending Freedom attorney who defended the law, clearly explained why Senate Bill 1100 is necessary to protect the privacy and safety interests of students.  (Read More)
