Pastors in the Treasure Valley Endorse Candidate for Governor who believes the Bible teaches a Flat Earth

The book of Job is the oldest book of the Bible, it is also the first mention in the Bible of a round earth.  Job 26:10 states, (Speaking of God) “He drew a circular horizon on the face of the waters, At the boundary of light and darkness.”  The key word here is: ḥûḡ.  Strong’s definition is to encircle, encompass, describe a circle, draw round, make a circle.  The book of Isaiah states in 40:22, “It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.”  Again, the key word is ḥûḡ.  Both of these verses clearly describe a round earth.  These are not new verses.  This is not complex theology.  The Pastors in the Treasure Valley should certainly know this.

Here is Mark Fitzpatrick in his own words claiming the Bible teaches a flat earth.  He has more recently claimed that he has never supported a flat earth, but clearly in 2023 and 2024 he supported a flat earth.  Notice the time and date stamp at the bottom right of the image below.  As of 4/28/2026, this was still on his X account.

Here is a video of Austin Whitsitt, Flat Earth Evangelist, at the Old State Saloon which Mark Fitzpatrick owns presenting Flat Earth.

Autin Whitsitt believes so strongly in Flat Earth that even after visiting Antarctica and seeing the 24-hour sun with his own eyes, he does not believe it disproves a Flat Earth.

Here is Mr. Fitzpatrick on video expressing his views on a flat earth.

More than just belief in a flat earth

Why would they choose to endorse Mark Fitzpatrick?  It is a question that is more complex than just the belief in a flat earth.  The reason it is more complex is that Mark Fitzpatrick believes things that are in our opinion much more dangerous than the belief in a flat earth.

In this X post Mark Fitzpatrick clearly expresses antisemitic beliefs.  Note, he is not criticizing Israeli policy, or conduct.  He is criticizing “the Jews”, claiming that they are the cause of so much evil in the world.  He claims that they are false Jews and that they worship a false God.  Basically, he is expressing replacement theology.  Replacement theology is the heretical idea that the Church has replaced the Jews in God’s plan.  That all of the Old Testament promises that were for the Jews, are now made to the Church.  Pastors should know better, yet we see more and more pastors falling for this heresy.

This is a classic antisemitic trope, that the Jews in high places are inflicting harm upon this world.

Israel will be brought back into the land in unbelief

It is true that many Jews do not believe in the God of the Bible.  There is a good explanation for that.  God was the one who removed Israel from the land to cleanse it.  He also says in Ezekiel that He will bring His people back into the land in unbelief.  Ezekiel 37:12, “Therefore prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up from your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.”  – Notice, there is no mention of Spiritual awakening.  Verse 14 shows us that Spiritual awakening doesn’t occur until after God’s people are brought back into the land.  “I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the LORD, have spoken it and performed it,” says the LORD.’”  God makes it clear that He considers the people of Israel His people, not false Jews.  When God says something, we should believe Him.

Relationship with Dave Reilly and Rebecca Hargraves

Mark Fitzpatrick has found a fellow traveler in the antisemitism crowd in Dave Reilly and Rebecca Hargraves, whose show was broadcast live during Mark Fitzpatrick’s Hetero-awesome fest.  In addition to having them at the festival, he appeared on their show advertising the festival.

Clearly Dave Reilly has no issues with making racist statements.  The fact that he pretended to whisper it is an admission that he knew it was racist.

Mark Fitzpatrick claimed that he didn’t hear what Dave Reilly said, but it is hard to buy that given his smile.  What is also important to note is that according to multiple sources, Mark Fitzpatrick did not object to what Reilly said until after sponsors complained about it.

If you don’t know who Dave Reilly and Rebecca Hargraves are, here is a video showing their racist and antisemitic views.

Why was he Endorsed?

The bottom line is that it would have been very easy for the Pastors in the Treasure Valley to find out Mark Fitzpatrick’s views on things like a Biblical flat earth and his views on the Jews and Israel.  There are many more examples of Fitzpatrick’s thinking than can be included in this article.

The obvious choice that the Pastors had was Brad Little, who has a proven track record of signing conservative bills into law and defending those bills.  Brad Little is a family man, a Christian, who clearly has a Biblical Worldview.  In multiple instances, he stood alone taking the slings and arrows of the liberal media and the Democratic party.

The strong suspicion that we have is that it is one of two things.

  1. The pastors want a candidate who will ensure that no local jurisdiction will shut down churches again.

The biggest problem with this reasoning is that empowering a governor to be able to overrule local control is a dangerous precedent to set.  This was one of the biggest problems that the liberal states had during COVID 19.   We should ensure local control instead of state control during an emergency.  This also conveniently forgets that in North Idaho it was the head of the Ministerial association that pushed the churches to shut down, not Governor Brad Little.

  1. The pastors want to be in the good graces of the local conservative groups, forgetting that the church is supposed to influence the world, not the other way around.

This in our opinion is the real reason behind the endorsement of Mark Fitzpatrick.  It is sad that a group of pastors is looking for the approval of the world rather than the approval of God.  Abraham Kuyper put it best when he said, “There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry, Mine!”  This includes politics, which in its most direct application, is how we govern ourselves as a nation.  Far too many pastors get this wrong, instead of applying scripture to how we view every aspect of the world including politics, they take their own perspective and then find scripture that supports it.

As Christians, our hope is in Jesus Christ, not a politician.  Sadly, political choices have become the least bad option in many cases.  The Christian community needs to be looking for politicians that have a moral framework that closest matches up with a Biblical worldview.
